I'm interested in how people conceive of human bodies, both in the past and present. The process of body modification or mortuary decoration indicates meaningful relationships were held between an individual and their body, or a group of people and a psst person's body. The study of modern concepts of the body allow an archaeologist to become aware of the way an archaeological body is treated in discourse, both in the questions being asked and the answers that are provided. I'm also interested in discourse involving the body as a site of lived experience, and in how archaeologists approach reconstructing the past.
